Ember Drift runs from near-black at the base into burnt orange and amber at the tip, the way a coal does as it cools. Silver-toned line work cuts across the burn in flame shapes, cracked veins and long feathered strokes, and one nail holds a single oval stone with orange fire inside it. The shape is a long stiletto with a glassy finish over the whole set.

MATERIAL DETAILS
At least five hand-applied layers of soft gel. The smoke-to-ember gradient is blended wet while the layers are still open, then the silver-toned flame work and the stone are set by hand, which is why no two nails burn in quite the same direction.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Keep the nails dry for the first hour after application. Avoid long hot soaks, and wear gloves for dishes and cleaning. Remove with cuticle oil and warm water, easing each nail off from the side - never pry, and keep acetone away from the set entirely. Store flat in the case between wears.

FAQ
Is the flame effect painted or a sticker?
Painted. The gradient is blended by hand and the silver flame work is drawn on top of it, one nail at a time.

Is the stone a real fire opal?
No - it is a decorative stone with orange flecks suspended inside it. It is set into the gel by hand.

Can I wear this at work?
That depends on the job. The length is the issue more than the colour: a long stiletto gets in the way of typing and anything needing fingertips.
